Bio

Visibly invisible, powerfully powerless.

Rooted in my upbringing within a Chinese immigrant family, my brand KAKA theLabel positions humor and absurdity as tools of resistance to confront invisibility.

"Play" functions as a methodology rather than escapism, disrupting the assumed seriousness of fashion to interrogate systems of exclusion and the everyday experience of microaggressions.

The Tourist Gaze: Performing Paradise

The outsourcing of domesticity, a performance of identifying as Western nuclear families on vacation, the tourist is both a captive and a creator of a manufactured fantasy.

Their gaze constructs the world in skewed and distorted representations of reality, which reveal both the desires and discontents of contemporary life.

Drawing inspiration from artists who critique labor, performance, and postmodern identity, tourism is reframed as both a site of wonder and a system of quiet exploitation.
