Avani Singhania
Bio
I am a multidisciplinary artist and designer working at the intersection of fashion, ceramics, and material experimentation. My practice is rooted in a tactile dialogue between my hands and the medium, exploring how materials can be transformed to express emotional and cultural narratives.
My work often draws from Indian heritage, reinterpreting textiles, embroidery, and artisanal practices. Through my label, AVANII, I merge fashion with ceramics, integrating handmade elements into garments to create pieces that exist between object and clothing.
MOLDED
Molded explores the coexistence of contrasting emotions within the self. Grounded in materiality, the collection investigates intricate fabric manipulation through handmade clay motifs, embroidery, and heat-set shibori. Drawing from the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita, it reflects on these emotions not as binaries of positive or negative, but as interconnected forces that shape identity through balance and tension.
A structured jacket crafted in silk-cotton, featuring hand-done French knot embroidery for rich surface texture. Finished with a cotton lining for breathability and comfort. With a fluid skirt in silver silk designed with an adjustable tie detail for a customizable fit. Lightweight and easy to wear, it drapes softly with movement.
