Bio
My personal narrative situates American military dress and vintage Japanese textile practices within a reimagined heritage and broader historical frameworks. The collection "Heritage in Repair" employs boro and sashiko not only as repair methods, but as a way to connect vintage Japanese textiles and denim, to create a future heritage. Uniform American and Japanese silhouettes are deconstructed; re-contextualized through layered construction and multiple repair techniques. The collection challenges hierarchies of Japanese and western craft, while fostering COMMUNITY through shared histories, generational knowledge, and collective cultural memory.
