Bio
Grace Albright is a womenswear designer who explores contemporary femininity through bold proportion, structure, and a relaxed, modern sensibility. Silhouette is central to her process, with garments shaped through precise tailoring and architectural intent, then refined through iteration, softened and subtly disrupted through unexpected ease, exaggeration, and release. Raised in Wales, she developed an early sensitivity to material and textile that continues to inform her focus on craft and material experimentation.
Records of a Decorous Daughter
Records of a Decorous Daughter begins with the figure of the Welsh primary schoolgirl and the early visual structures through which ideas of femininity are learned. Drawing from personal references growing up in Wales, the collection traces how uniforms, dress codes, rituals of appearance, and institutional expectations teach the body to hold itself in ways that align with what culture defines as correct, gradually absorbing discipline into instinct.
Pleats, grids, high collars, and checks act as markers of order, referencing school uniform and Welsh dress. These structures shift through proportion and material, breaking alignment as collars relax and pleats distort. The collection proposes that individuality emerges through subtle negotiations with inherited systems, where femininity is formed through an ongoing process of alignment, resistance, and reinterpretation.
