“Kesher”, meaning connection, is a thesis project about growing up as an American Jew on the West Coast. My thesis aims to explore the upbringing of an American Jew by researching historical Jewish and American garments, communities and traditions. Kesher brings in focus from California landscapes, and personal memories and moments that defined my journey through Judaism.

Image: Look 5: Wearing all white each Shabbat at Camp Alonim was one of my favorite memories growing up. Everyone wearing one color was unifying and comforting. I knew even from my youngest years there that we were all having the same experience regardless of age, where we were from, or how much religion meant to each of us. The point was that once a week we came together to rest. The all white acted as a re-setting point for the week that was ahead.
