Nicholas Lu 「Gekka」is a Taiwanese designer based in New York. His work is a chimera of perceptions, seeking to blend reality with a distant world.

Drawing inspiration from Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, this collection documents transformation. Where Kafka’s protagonist becomes a creature stripped of function and worth, this collection explores the inverse: the gradual metamorphosis of softer, doll-like forms into machine-like forms engineered for utility. Through my SOF models’ transitioning and a material narrative shifting from distressed knits to transformative metallic leathers and seven accessories, Metalmorphosis questions whether the realization of function through mechanical transformation is survival, or the quiet erosion of humanity.
