Sarah Zakaria

 As an Indian Muslim born and raised in the West, my work is shaped by the experience of navigating multiple identities. I design for a Muslim audience, creating clothing that fills the gap in the fashion industry for pieces that are both modern and modest. My work is rooted in my faith and cultural heritage, which I translate into contemporary design through the use of cultural crafts and textile techniques. I am particularly drawn to processes like crushed pleating and pole wrapping, using them to add depth and meaning to otherwise simple silhouettes. Through my designs, I aim to create garments that feel intentional, personal, and reflective of a modern Muslim identity.
