Bio

Sehee Park, a fashion designer based in New York, explores garment structure and form shaped by controlled social environments. She deconstructs traditional tailoring and reconfigures it into fluid, asymmetrical silhouettes. Through details such as fragmented pleats, shifted panels, and distorted proportions, her work reinterprets familiar forms in a contemporary context. Combining structured construction with draping, she focuses on reconsidering how garments function and are perceived.

Edge Of Order

Emerging from an exploration of moments where personal identity faded within systems of control and repetition, this collection visualizes the lingering traces of individuality that resist complete erasure. Subtle distortions and imperfections hidden within uniformity are reinterpreted through deconstructed structures and fluid forms. This perspective is grounded in the visual language of 1970s Korean school uniforms, reexamined as a symbol of enforced conformity and collective identity. Through a contemporary lens of deconstruction and fluid identity, rather than simply referencing the uniform, the designs actively dismantle its rigid structure. Traditional elements such as pleated skirts, tailored jackets, and pinstriped fabrics are fragmented, elongated, and reassembled into sculptural forms that disrupt their original function.Across the five looks, pleats are no longer contained or orderly; they unravel into hanging strips and layered extensions, suggesting both restriction and release. Jackets lose their conventional symmetry through cut-outs and displaced panels, exposing the body and challenging the idea of uniform modesty. Asymmetric draping and twisted seams introduce movement and instability, transforming the once-static silhouette into something fluid and evolving. The contrast between structured tailoring and soft, collapsing forms reflects the tension between control and individuality.

The monochromatic palette reinforces the historical reference to institutional dress, while subtle variations in texture such as sheer overlays, raw edges, and pinstripe accents add depth and nuance. These material choices emphasize the process of deconstruction, allowing the garments to appear simultaneously incomplete and intentional. Ultimately, the collection aims to question the legacy of enforced uniformity and reclaim space for personal expression. By breaking down and reconstructing the visual language of the school uniform, the work proposes a new narrative one where identity is not standardized, but continuously reshaped through fragmentation, resistance, and reinterpretation.
