Bio
An Indian fashion designer and graduating senior at Parsons School of Design. My work explores textiles, surface development, and concept-driven design. Drawing from a background in the block printing industry, I engage with themes of upcycling, authorship, and the visibility of artisan labor. Through print, color, and reconstruction, I develop contemporary ready-to-wear under my label Cee Jay, where material intuition and process-led thinking shape each outcome.

Marked develops from close observation of karigars and their everyday workwear, where garments are shaped by use, adjustment, and repetition. Growing up within this environment, I approach the work from a position of proximity, translating these conditions into form while acknowledging the individuals behind them. The collection extends beyond reference, incorporating gestures of credit through embroidered names, numbers, and traces that recognize the presence of the makers within the garments.

Blockprinted Mock layered t-shirt
Blockprinted layered shorts
A triangular neck scarf
Blockprinted straight pants and a collared shirt
This look translates the act of printing into garment form, where touch and repetition become central. A triple-layered wrap skirt, varying in scale, reflects the way fabric is handled and adjusted through use, paired with a minimal bralette. The look is completed with an embroidered headscarf and beaded finger gloves, drawing attention to the hands as the primary tool in the process, while surface markings and details retain traces of contact and movement.
In Frame: Pranav Sivaraju wearing an oversized zip hoodie and trousers with a beaded Cee Jay headscarf, constructed from fabric once used underfoot. The silhouette reflects accumulation and wear, while the material retains traces of use, translating overlooked surfaces into garment form.
