Bio

Yumna Khairi is a fashion designer focused on textile-driven garment design. Developing textiles that inform silhouette, her practice brings together material exploration and garment construction, allowing concept and execution to evolve together. Drawing on personal references, she approaches design through reinterpretation. Her work reflects an interest in how clothing is made, worn, and understood in relation to identity, with an emphasis on process and the relationship between textile and form.

Juvenile

Juvenile draws from the visual language of Sudanese dress and adornment, abstracting these references into contemporary silhouettes shaped by displacement and assimilation. Rather than preserving tradition in a fixed form, it reflects a shifting cultural reality in which identity is continuously negotiated and redefined.
Grounded in personal memories of makeshift runways, the work approaches dressing as both instinct and experiment, where clothing becomes a means of testing and asserting identity. Heritage is treated as something in motion, carried, altered, and reconfigured, capturing a generation that navigates rupture with clarity, restraint, and a distinctly contemporary perspective.
