Eleanor Trask
Bio
Eleanor Trask is a New York-based designer centered on tactile experience and the intertwining of craft and fashion. Raised in Richmond, Virginia, works draw from the vivid craft communities & culture of Appalachia and greater Virginia, as well as nature's textured overgrowth and collecting. Through the incorporation of untraditional materials, looks center creating sculptural complements that fully submerge its wearer and provide elegant, often one-of-one looks.
Coalescence
Coalescence is a curve-inclusive women’s wear collection exploring the cultural overlap between Appalachia and Ireland through craft communities and techniques (i.e., Irish crochet and Appalachian knitting guilds). Drawing from the once-joint mountain range of these locations, my great aunts' use of collective fabrication in her sweater brand, and the process of Irish lace construction, this collection centers around the idea of fragmenting motifs and assembling them into one. Using a tactile medley of yarn and home reminiscent linens, looks push traditional techniques to new life and processes, providing sculptural garments that blend both elegance and tenderness.
