Bio

Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Yejin Han draws on traditional Korean heritage and culture through a modern lens to shape her design practice. Her work explores perception, examining how misconceptions and misunderstandings can distort how people see one another, even rendering them monstrous. Working across diverse mediums and methods within fashion, she experiments with form and narrative to construct a distinctive visual language. She places strong emphasis on refined craftsmanship and high-quality finishes, elevating both concept and execution.

In the Eyes of Their Unknown

This is a womenswear collection inspired by stories in Korea where human-like “creatures” with different skin conditions were described as mysterious beings, like mermaids. Today, these stories could be re-interpreted as people with vitiligo, suggesting that what was once labeled “mythical” and “non-human” may have simply been misunderstood.
By creating fringes with animal fibers and different tones in Sumi ink-dyed fabric, referencing skin, the collection protects, reveals, and opens space to rethink how we perceive things while understanding people who are misunderstood.
Image: Inspired by the image of a fishnet in Korea, I created a fringe loop using boning and yarn, and began the ideation process by draping with the prop.
